RGA questions European Parliament's online gaming stance

European Parliament has taken the initiative of categorizing internet betting in their new Anti-Money Laundering Directive (AMLD). Remote Gambling Association (RGA) an online betting firm has claimed that this step has prompted some disappointment. The European Parliament claimed that it will initiate the proposed bill for modification for the purpose of having a new AMLD.

However, despite RGA claiming to be giving a hand in this motion, they are have claimed that the new proposals means that each customer will have to abide to the diligence measures that will be executed by the online gaming operators. This will happen immediately after the development of the business relationship.

If the proposal is passed by the European Parliament, the online gaming operators will be tasked with the conduction of this diligence in attempt to come up with a good business relationship with the clients.

However, RGA claimed that this would bring about disagreement since the proposal claims that the operator must carry out due diligence to each client in the online betting trade so as not to violate the European Commission as well as other past Directives.

For this proposal to be a bill it must pass through the EU Council who may in turn reject the proposal. There will be European elections soon and this pushes the second reading as well as extra discussion to later dates.

Word from the Clive Hawkswood the CEO of RGA claimed that it was meaningless for the parliament to decide on this issue in attempt to stop laundering of money as well as reviewing the facts. He added that the parliament should leave the problem of money laundering as well as other risks to the online operator who possess the new technology and tools that can single out and prevent all these problems.

He also added that this firm should not be subjected to that treatment because it has all it needs to fight any problem that may arise. However he claimed that they will continue giving support to the parliament's proposals. He claimed that he was against the motion and hoped that the proposal will be rejected by the EU Council.
